Blair Thurston,
MA, NCC, LPC
Originally from Marietta, Georgia, Blair holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Master’s degree in Counseling with a focus on couple and family therapy from the University of Colorado Denver. Blair has extensive experience in addiction recovery, family therapy, and guiding clients through recovery processes. She completed an externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples (2017) and then went on to serve as the program coordinator for the family program at CeDAR (Center for Dependency, Addiction, and Rehabilitation), a division of UCHealth.
After transitioning into private practice, Blair expanded her expertise by studying developmental trauma interventions. She completed a training in the Neuro-Affective Relational Model with Dr. Lawrence Heller (2021), followed by a year-long training in Compassionate Inquiry under Dr. Gabor Maté (2024). These specialized approaches allow Blair to guide clients in healing deep-rooted trauma and overcoming emotional challenges.
Blair is highly somatically oriented and believes in the healing power of movement. Her passion for wellness fuels her dedication to weightlifting, yoga, hiking, cycling, dance, and sauna/cold plunge. Blair views physical movement as a vital tool for regulating emotional wellbeing and promoting mental health. Recently, she has also developed an interest in the therapeutic potential of plant medicine and the healing power of ceremonial spaces.
Blair brings a unique blend of lightness, curiosity, and hope to her therapeutic work, helping clients feel empowered and supported on their healing journey. She has a gift for helping individuals zoom out and see their acute distress within the broader context of their life, guiding them to explore deeper themes of purpose and meaning. Through her work, Blair imparts a sense of reassurance and peace, reminding clients that, no matter the challenges, everything is going to be okay. Her greatest passion is self-study and supporting others on their journey of self-discovery and personal growth. Blair believes that every human being is inherently loving, compassionate, and capable of profound healing. By fostering a safe, non-judgmental space, she empowers her clients to reconnect with their true selves and create lasting change in their lives.
Beyond Counseling
In addition to her extensive clinical training, Blair has a deep love for spirituality and other healing arts. She began studying Human Design in 2019, after experiencing its profound impact on her own life. Human Design is a system that blends ancient wisdom traditions to support self-discovery and alignment with your authentic self. By using your birth date, Human Design generates a personalized chart called a BodyGraph, which reveals your unique energetic blueprint and guides you toward greater clarity and fulfillment.
Blair completed all three foundation courses with certified Human Design Analyst Peter Berv and began offering Human Design readings professionally in 2022. To date, she has conducted over 100 readings, helping clients gain deep insights into their true nature and life path.
In 2024, Blair completed a 4-year spiritual apprenticeship under shamanic practitioner and Mayan priest Nataline Cruz, owner of Strawberry Moon Energetics, Ancestral Healing, and Sacred Teachings. This apprenticeship allowed Blair to learn various shamanic healing modalities, including shadow work and spiritual counseling. Blair integrates these teachings into her therapeutic approach, blending spiritual wisdom with traditional psychotherapeutic techniques.
What sets Blair apart as a clinician is her ability to weave together spiritual insights and psychotherapy to create a deeply transformative and holistic healing experience for her clients.
